Entering the Griot's Circle:
Narrative Explorations of the Old and New
What happens when an up-an-coming theatre company (Modern-Day Griot Theatre Company) decides to request submissions of new plays to serve as companion pieces to “The African Company Presents Richard III” and "Flipzoids"?
The result: vivid performances of Carlyle Brown’s historic work along with Ralph Pena's culturally visceral piece paired with the world premiere of works produced by an up-and-coming playwrights.
Our new interdisciplinary project, a reading series entitled, Entering the Griot’s Circle: Narrative Explorations of the Old and New celebrates the established playwrights passing the baton to emergent playwrights.
