What Does a Modern-Day Griot Look Like To You?
We are currently accepting submissions from Visual artists for our first annual "My Modern-Day Griot" contest.
What's your visual interpretation of a Modern-Day Griot? As an experimental, interdisciplinary theatre company that's committed to expressing the human experience by using the storytelling art-form of the West African Griot, we are looking to include the storytelling vision of the Visual Artists.
Your designs should reflect the traditional image of a griot but with a fresh, modern take.
Submission packet must include:
• All entries must be received in a .gif, .tif, .jpeg, .png, .eps, or .psd format.
• The content winner must agree to transfer copyright & trademark rights to the design/artwork to The Modern-Day Griot Theatre Company as sole owner for one year
For one whole year, the chosen design will be given prominent credit and will be used on all our marketing materials, brochures and the like. It will also be featured on our website along with a short bio and link to your site. So whether you are a professional artist or artist at heart, unleash that creative genius hiding inside you and draw it, design it, tweak it, crumble it, set it on fire--- create what’s next and show us what a Modern-Day Griot looks like to you!
All submissions must be submitted electronically to our submissions department: MDGSubmissions@moderndaygriot.org.
The deadline for submissions is December 31, 5pm EST and the final line-up will be announced in February 2014. Only one entry per entrant will be accepted. You will be contacted should we wish to use your work. Neither fax nor paper submissions will be accepted and absolutely NO phone calls.
Please note that due to high volume of inquiries, response time is usually 3-6 weeks and while Modern-Day Griot Theatre Company cannot offer royalties we can offer opportunity.
